They say there is no stronger bond than that between parent and child.
This week, Edwarda O’Bara, a patient who had been in a coma for 42 years and whose dedicated family had become an inspiration to many, died.
O’Bara became stricken with diabetes as a teen, but before slipping into a coma she asked her mother Kaye O’Bara to never leave her side.
Kaye never did – until she died in 2008. After that, Edwarda’s sister Colleen O’Bara quit her job so she could keep her mother’s promise.
Their story inspired motivational speaker Wayne Dyer to write the book “A Promise Is A Promise: An Almost Unbelievable Story of a Mother’s Unconditional Love and What It Can Teach Us.”
